A stable bitumen/water emulsion heavily reinforced with cellulose fibre. It is dark brown in colour, with trowelling consistency and dries to a tough, flexible black coating. • General waterproofing: A trowel applied roof waterproofing material for use where a certain amount of traffic or wear may occur. Normally used in conjunction with KOLASCOTE T3 and can be used on concrete, roofing felt, mastic asphalt, corrugated iron, slates, tiles, lead, copper and zinc. The cellulose fibre content makes KOLASCOTE T7 particularly suitable where toughness of coating or extra heat resistance is required. It may also be mixed with clean, sharp sand to increase resistance to heat and/or mechanical damage.
• Insulation: It is used as a heavy duty, abrasion resistant weatherproofing over insulation on pipes, tanks, vessels and boilers. Provides a weather seal over insulation on low temperature plant and piping and as a gas seal in gascontrolled fruit stores.
• Preparation: Clean off all moss, dirt and loose material. Prime with KOLASCOTE T3 and allow to dry.
• Application: Do not thin - apply by trowel (or glove on insulation) at 3 kg/m² per coat. COLASKOTE TYPE 7 may be applied to a damp surface although both coating and surface must be able to dry before the emulsion will cure to a waterproof film. Do not apply at more than 3mm thickness per coat as this may cause cracking. Protect from rain until cured.
